Step 3: What Services Should You Offer?
The third step is deciding what services you should offer. This can be the tricky part, as you are likely going to want to provide as many services as possible in the beginning just to draw in clients. Be careful though, and concentrate on providing services in which you have a rock solid background. Taking on tasks or projects in areas you are unfamiliar with will take more time to complete which means less time available, where as using the skills you already possess maximizes the time you are available to your clients.
Whether you’re a designer or a photographer, an engineer or a translator, the principles remain the same. Look for an area where specialist expertise is in high demand, and develop the skills you need to meet that demand. As your skills and experience in this area increase, your value will grow accordingly. So you can command the highest fees, whilst offering a genuinely valuable service to your clients.
